Meeting Paloma Faith

So a couple of weeks ago I went to see Paloma Faith at The Edinburgh Corn Exchange with my sister Melissa(left) and my cousin Hazel(middle). I had wanted to see Paloma Faith in concert since I saw her at the Isle of Wight Festival in June this year! We got Hazel the ticket for her Birthday, a little bit worried that she wasn't even very aware of Paloma Faith and her music, however Eliza Doolittle was the support act and we knew that she liked her. We arrived just as Eliza Doolittle was starting and she was a great way to start the evening.

The Paloma Faith gig was one of the best gigs I have ever been to. The stage was decorated amazingly with a white grand piano, stairs up the middle and a tree with a bench underneath it! Paloma sang an amazing mix of her album tracks, new versions of the album tracks, covers (including Cee Lo Green's 'F**k You' and a slow version of David Guetta and Akon's 'Sexy Bitch'...both absolutely amazing!) as well as a few new songs which I can't wait to be released...including one called 'Me and my cellulite'!! :) Overall Paloma put on a fantastic lively show which everyone seemed to enjoy! Especially me!
After the gig we spotted some people heading around the back of the venue and so we followed! We were waiting on my dad to pick us up anyway so we thought we might as well wait around the back. It was maybe 45/50 minutes later that she appeared! (my dad had arrived by then, but he didn't mind waiting so we now had a photographer!) She looked stunning in her black coat with a large furry collar, patterned harem pants and heeled black and white brogues!
She wasn't allowed to talk at all because she was losing her voice and had gigs every night, so she literally had to move along the line signing everyones programmes and tickets without saying a word. She had a guy with her to translate what she was trying to say and to be able to chat to everyone. He had previously announced that she couldn't speak and told everyone just to tell her their name and she would sign. She came along the line to us and I couldn't really contain my excitement!! I have already blogged about Paloma being my ultimate fashion icon and I was really very excited to meet her! She signed my programme and was in the middle of signing my sister and my cousins tickets and I kept just blabbering away to her! I told her that I loved her and on more than one occasion (in the spirit of the moment) seemed to keep saying 'I'm so excited'!! I told her; 'I study fashion and you are my fashion icon'. She took my programme back from me and wrote 'I am sorry I can't speak to you'. I still to this day (even though it was only a few weeks ago!) wonder what she would have said to me, she has such a lovely, bubbly personality when she talks to her audience and I would have loved to have a wee chat with her.
In conclusion all three of us had a great night, a fantastic gig with the icing being put on the cake when we met her!

Paloma Faith; a gorgeous, lovely, funny, extremely talented lady and my ultimate fashion icon! (She tweeted today: 'heat mag love me in the what were they thinking section. they give me a lot of press! Just to make this clear: I don't want to fit in!I'd die!'...I love that attitude!)
