Childrenswear

When I first started this blog it was indented to be a fashion blog since I am a fashion student. So far it seems to just be mostly about me and things that I like but I will maybe try and make it a bit more focused! I am not entirely sure what area of the fashion industry I would like to work in after I graduate but I do think (at the moment anyway) that I would love to work in something to do with childrenswear. I know that I don't want to be a designer but I would love to work for a childrenswear designer or be a visual merchandiser for a childrenswear shop or department. One day I would even quite like to run my own shop, possibly selling childrenswear if I could find the right gap in the market and the right place in the world.

Here are some images that have all come from Mini Hipster. This website is a look book of kids street fashion from across the world and allows parents to upload pictures of their children. I find it pretty interesting to look at the different childrenswear across the world and the way that parents dress their children and in the cases of older children, the way they dress themselves.

I think all of these children look stylish but in a childish way. I think it is important that children still remain childlike in their appearance. I really don't like when children are dressed like smaller versions of adults and I don't like how places like Asda create clothes for children that are just smaller versions of what is 'in fashion'. Childrenswear should be completely different but that debate is for another time. In my opinions the pictures below show the great way that children's clothes can be styled to make children look unique and well dressed as well as keeping the childlike, innocent aspect with lots of bright colours and fun accessories.

Happy New Year

Image from here

So another year has gone by incredibly fast and I am back at uni tomorrow for Semester 2 of 3rd Year. I can't believe how fast time is going by, it feels like yesterday that it was freshers week and now I've only got another year and a bit until I graduate...scary stuff.

So I have decided that I would like change in 2011. I am happy in the place that I am at the moment; I live at home and drive to uni, I work on a Saturday in a lovely cafe in Kelso and I take off at random times to visit Malik in Dundee. It's a comfortable way of living but I think that I maybe need to shake things up a bit. I will be 21 in April and I think it might be time for a change. I'm not sure in what form this 'change' will take but I'm sure it will all fall into place.

-I would really like a job a bit more related to my uni course however I know that these types of jobs don't really exist around here so I would have to apply to jobs in Edinburgh.

-If I successfully got a job in Edinburgh then I would probably move up there and then travel down for uni.

-I think if I did move up to Edinburgh then I would have to just continue to live and work there over the Summer. However I really want to travel in the Summer, not for the whole Summer, I just want to visit some places and possibly try and do an internship for a few weeks in London maybe. I don't think I can afford to move out as well as go to London in the Summer so maybe one or the other...but then I can't afford to go to London without another job...it's a vicious circle!!

- I would also really like to go on holiday with Malik in the Summer, we have talked about holidays before but they have just never happened! Oh and I would love to go to The Isle of Wight Festival again this year (Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Kasabian, The Script...what a line up!!!) and maybe The Eden Festival again. I doubt I will do all this but I can wish.

Also for 2011...

-Eat healthier
-Become fitter
-Blog more
-Round up some more blog followers
-Waste less time on Facebook
-Try and save some money
-Read more books
-Try and not leave uni work until last minute

...and HAVE FUN!! :)

Getting to know me

So I found these questions on Voodle Blog No one has tagged me and asked me to answer them but I thought that I would anyway, just to let you get to know me a bit more. I changed and deleted a few of the questions because I think they had originally been aimed at beauty and make-up bloggers but I kept the ones that I thought were interesting so here's my answers:

Whats your dream job?

Whats your favourite fragrance for winter?

How do you take your coffee/tea?

What is your most important beauty secret?

If you had an all-expenses paid vacation anywhere, where would you go?

If a genie popped up and offered you three wishes, what would they be?
If you could only have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert foods for the rest of your life, which would you pick?
If you could only wear one piece of jewellery for the rest of your life, what would it be?
What talent do you wish you had?
If you could look into the future, would you? And what would you want to know?
